Velour
Friday night, just a regular night, unwinding from a long work week and scrapping for something good and not to fatting to eat, my roommates asked if I wanted to go to a live music gallery at Velour. I usually don't go to things like this because my interest in music isn't that great but my roommates are both extremely talented in the music/vocal department. (I would say Amy is what they call a triple threat!) so I was kind of excited to see what Velour was all about. So we get all dolled up, load the cars up and head out. Once we get in (by the way-thank you Amy for covering me- who knew they didn't except plastic!!) I realize that the crowd wasn't exactly something I am use too. They are what I call modern day hippies, greenies, people who want to look like they need a bar of soap and a cut. (lol, watch out I can be critical sometimes). But never the less I was still looking forward to the bands play. The decor of this place was a lot like what you would see on guitar hero. I felt like "Paint it Black" by Rolling Stones should be playing with me up on stage with my "fake" guitar rocking out! After some time the first band is introduced and I felt a wave of excitement flow over me. The music start playing and bam there it is again- this feeling... Where did this come from!?? Was it the lead singers looks or maybe the song... either way I was totally into it. I was instantly wrapped up in the song and everything around me was numb! Unfortunately the song ended and I realize that I am standing on my seat cheering and everyone behind me isn't to happy (I guess they couldn't see ha ha). In totally shock of my actions I sit down and realized that I have been missing out. The world of music is so much more then the radio with their top 10! As I stood there staring at the disco ball (its all I could see over the crowd) I realized that maybe these hippies knew something about music that I hadn't found. I was really impressed with the bands and their music. I vowed that night that I wouldn't limit my music selection and to continue to break out and experience something new. So I ask everyone who reads this (that is if you got this far with out getting bored lol) please share with me your favorite song or band! And don't be shy!

You are too funny! Sounds like you had a blast!
I wish I had access to stuff like that here in town. I am pretty picky about my music. I can be very critical as well. However, jason is really into 'punk' and I have found a couple of bands that I like. Relient K and Something Corporate are 2 that I can tolerate and even enjoy sometimes. Check them out, they are alright!
Mindi :)
Hey! I think Nathan Robbins' band plays at Velour quite often, you'll have to watch for them if you ever go again!
