Movie Night…. with the Boss!!!???

I would think that 95% of people don’t “hang out” with their boss after work hours. I know I don’t and wouldn’t, maybe co-works but not my boss. So here is what happened- my good friend Sterling who works two full time jobs. One job with the city of Orem and the second job is with Nestle. We do things on a daily bases which is usually late nights because of his work schedule. But Tuesday he had the day off. It was like any other night we hang out. He took me to Café Rio and then we grabbed some movies at blockbuster and headed back to his house. Right before we popped in a move on my laptop his boss calls and asks if he would like to go to the movie Valkyrie with him. (you need to know that Sterling’s boss is over 40 with a family of four I believe) Sterling looks at me and asks if I want to see a movie and tells me it’s his boss. I told him go ahead without me (who wants to interfere with what sounds like a guys night out). But he was sure that he wanted me to tag along so I break down and agree to go. He then proceeds to tell his boss that a movie sounds great but he is bring me along. It’s quite on the other side for a little and then his boss says oh that girl you always talk about, yeah ok. I tried to act like I didn’t hear anything and smiled. So he told us to be ready and would pick us up. So there we are waiting outside (in the freezing cold snow) and I am thinking “this feels like I am 15 and waiting for my dad to pick my date and I up to go to the movies!” I couldn’t help but chuckle to myself. The car ride over went well (thank heavens they live close to the theatre). Walking into the theatre and finding a seat was a little weird. Sterling and I sat together with his boss two seats down on the other side of me. But I played cool the entire time. I noticed his boss would look over every time we chatted or moved. It was pretty funny, but the movie was good and the company even better (Sterling being the company I’m solely talking about ha ha). After the movie, driving back to the house his boss tells us that he hopes he wasn’t too much of a chaperone. I had to giggle, it was such a weird date, but I had fun and was able to spend time with my best friend.
